polaris 500 engine problems?

Default polaris 500 engine problems?

i just bought this polaris 500 magnum and it idles fine but when u ride it it kinda cuts out when u give it more than 1/4 throttle it seems like it is not gettin enough gas or too much air or some thing or the govener kinda kicks in or something idk if someone had a similar problem

Things to check would be your air filter is clean. Your gas is fresh and the spark plug is not fouled. You can also check the inline fuel filter and make sure it is flowing gas freely. Another thing that got me is I was trying to ride it with the air filter cover off. Make sure the air filter box is on and not leaking air besides what it is supposed to. You may want to look at rebuilding the carb depending on how old the quad is. It is pretty easy to do if you have the service manual and makes a big difference in the way they run.

Check the slack in the thtrottle cable and make sure both vent lines are connected to the air box.
