Hey guys,
My brothers atv wont change gears(it seems) like its in 4 low but its in high and not in 4x4... like it won't shift out of 1st gear??? It will ride fine just slow and will rev up but no gear change???

what do I chk first...

take the clutch cover off and see how the clutches are working and check the belt. see if the belt is setting up in the secondary(big clutch)while its idling or shut off and when you rev it up in netural see if the belt goes down in the secondary and up in the primary(small engine clutch). the belt should be setting above the big clutch about 1/8". if this is ok take off the secondary clutch(one center bolt) and check the 3 plastic buttons on the inside where the helix slides. chances are they are worn out which will cause it to do what your refering too. imo.
