got an 84 atc 200s it starts right up runs great for about 10 minutes then it starts missing and cutting out then it just dies. let it cool down for a bit and it fires right back up runs maybe only 3 to five minutes then just dies. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

Check your gas vent. If it is clogged that will happen.

 

i took the gas cap clear off and it still did the same thing. is there a way to clean the vent on it

 

check the flow to the carb ... if the screen in the tank is clogged youll run the carb out of gas faster than it can fill it

 

If it still does it without the gas cap even on the machine, then the vent isn't your problem. I would check the petcock/fuel filter(if it has one) etc.

How did you make out? I have an 85 200S, but it runs like a dream... just curious incase mine starts acting up.

 

if i forget to turn my gas on, my bike will run great for about 10 min until the float goes empty. I bet your float is hanging up running you outta gas, let it sit, SOME gas gets in and it runs for 3 min. Let it sitt over night and it runs for 10 min again right?
