Default Primary drive clutch questions

I have a 2008 Sportsman 800 HO, and it is "creeping". The dealer diagnosed the problem to the primary drive one way clutch, which is not operating properly. He said it is not serviceable, and the entire primary clutch must be replaced as an assembly, which is very expensive. Could it just be taken apart and cleaned, I have had some mud / water in the clutch cover due to a bad seal, but I always drained it out immediately. Any suggestions? If it is to be replaced, any recommendatons on aftermarket or genuine Polaris parts? Any input here is appreciated.

It can be serviced,it has roller bearings held in place by spring steel clips and also has a bearing at the opening inside the one way,BUT you have to have the spyder tool to breakdown the clutch to replace or repair, plus when the one way is pulled off the shaft the clips and bearings usually fall out and sometimes a bear to grease up to hold in place. The dealer is right in one way: no repairable parts are available if damaged, but being an 08 model they should be able to clean it up IF they wanted to.

he is incorrect sayinbg you need to buy a new clutch. it could be just bad washers that got worn out part number#7556335Washer or it could be the bearing/bushing 3514492Bearing these have been the same since o05' by the looks. but he^^^ is right by saying a specail tool is needed to pull it apart. tell the dealer to look up the bike parts list instead of trying to rip you off. imo

Thanks guys. I need to find a dealer who is actually interested in service instead of just easy profit.

Is it not the crush washers that are on the primary? The $6 rip off washer that is not of metal material? I have had to replace mine on a '07 800 X2 model every year, maybe due to the fact I'm closing in on 3000 miles. It also doesn't hurt any to have the tools to rebuild a clutch either!!
