remove air box and carb. you should be able to feel two bolts on the back of the starter. removing them takes patience and lots of it. after you get those out take off the recoil housing. one of the bolts for the recoil housing actually goes to the starter too. that leaves 2 more. they will be eithe behind the bendix or pretty close to the benix. remove those. remove the skid plate under the bike (i usually take out the first few bolts on the back of the plate and push it down.) reach up and twist starter to break the seal it has on the engine block. pull it out of the hole and remove the thick red wire from terminal. starter is free.
