[ sob sob ] My MoJave died yesterday . I have a 88 . Had her for 5 years . My 1st bike . Ran great. My chain popped a month ago . Then again yesterday . Got home , tightened her , test drive - "my, its hard 2 shift to 2nd" . GO EASY , I said 2 myself . 2nd gear bac to 1st........AND........chain popped .Got off & I c oil . A piece of my transmission blew out my engine casing , rite below & in front of my sprocket . So , took her 2 the Kawasaki place , &they said - $ 487 crankcase + $ 88 gasket set + $ 75 misc + $ 450 labor = AT LEAST $ 1,100 . If she were running she would b worth $ 1,000 . He said my sprocket was proably wobble'ly cause'n my chain 2 pop off a couple of times & caused this . He said I should have had a " o " chain on her 2 . So u will c in a week or so a 88 MoJave 4 sale on this site 4 parts . Good plastic ,hubs, frame & rear axle . So have u hugged ur MoJave 2 day ? U better . Not many of us have one , those who do "keep the legend go'n" , 4 Char [ thats me ]and Char's MoJave.

Hey, sounds like a good time for a motor conversion!!! I heard of someone here on this site puting a 650 in a mojave , not that the 250 wasn't enough. But hey, I think it has potential. If you are still considering selling I would consider helping you take care of your loved one.

Mohave I have a cheap fix for ya if ya want to keep your bike wallet and sanity. If ya still have the peice of case that broke.Drain all the oil out of the quads gearbox/case.Get a can or 2 of brake clean contact cleaner spray the crap out of it dry it good making sure there is no oil at all dripping out of it.Get some metal epoxy/jb weld let that set up and then smear it with guerilla snot let that dry.Add your lubricant making sure it doesnt leak.Get new sprockets and chain and properly adjust ,if everything is ok go riding.Hope this helps

Well, thank all of u 4 the interest in my MoJave .

I am gonna try 2 sell her as a whole 1 st . I kno if I "chop" her up & sell the parts seperately , I will probaly get more $ in the end . But I am gonna try 2 sell her as a whole 1st .

I hope soon [ in the next week ], 2 have her listed on this site , w/ a link 2 my "2 b" home page w/ all of her pics .

o , Sugarhead , ur suggestion , I think it is 2 bad 4 that . ALL the oil poured out of her @ the time of " expulsion " in about 2 minutes . I washed her after , 2 get "good" final pics of her . & wow , what i saw w/ the dirt off . Below the tear , the engine case "cracked" like a earthquake would 2 the ground . So I have a 2 1/2 inch tear then a 3 1/2 inch crack .& I tried 2 shift her & the shift wont move , & while u r trying 2 u hear bad metal "jumbleing" sounds .

Thankx 4 the input tho .

c u all , luv me [ I'm a chick , don't worry ]
