Lectron idle tuning question
#1
Does the needle position have any effect on idle quality? I can't seem to obtain a quality idle on my 730 build and am not sure what that one screw seems to do on the Lectron 48 dual power jet carb, not the idle adjustment screw. Any suggestions?

Well there are two screws that are covers for the power jets and then there is another brass screw between the idle screw and choke. It is the same size & type as the idle screw, the are both spring loaded. The idle screw is vertical and this one is horizontal.

Sorry then. Not sure as I haven't ever seen one of those on the Lectron that I'm familiar with before. The two in the power jets control their fuel flow to those when they actually flow fuel at WOT only.
Maybe that brass screw is an choke fuel adjustment? I didn't think that lectrons had pilot (slow jet) circuits that would have that as an air / idle mixture screw like other brand carbs.
The Lectron design only has the main needle and bore?

The idle screw is the horizontal one - the vertical one is an air-bypass adjustment screw. Yes, the needle adjusts the idle quality (rich/lean) the bypass screw allows more air to enter the carb at idle if turned out & the transversse if turned in (less air). Its purpose is to fine tune the idle circuit.
