I would say yes parts should fit from 86' to 89' there wasn't any major change in design of these quads , at least there wasn't any change in my 1986 Honda TRX350FM Foreman 4x4 in the plastic's ; the only change Honda made for my Foreman 4x4 were larger tire size (25x10x11's front and rear on 86' model to 25x8x12's front / 25x10x12's rears on 89' model ) and the 1989 Honda TRX350FM Foreman had an extra low gear !

These 2 change's were only made to the 1989 Honda TRX350FM Foreman 4x4 , the 1986 to 1989 Honda TRX350D 4x4's only change was the optional removeable handlebar headlight for use as a spotlight ; everything else were the same spec's hope this help's !

What I do is go to bike banit and find the part number for the part I want. Then I just compare the part numbers with the newer models. If the numbers match up it should fit.

Thanks for post I did check out bike bandit and the cv axle part numbers were similler but slightly differant. Not sure if the bike needs axles or not. I have not looked at it yet but the guy said the front end was wore out. but i do not know if that was cv axles or the ball joints.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but wanted to add my 2 pennies. I have an 86 that I've been rebuilding and just wanted to warn against assuming many of the parts are the same. There are a lot of subtle differences between the 86, and the 87-89 fourtrax.

I bought a starter gear set on ebay that even was listed as from an 86, and it didn't fit. It was from an 87.

If you get a service manual it will show the difference between the years, or look at bikebandit like someone else mentioned.
