I am new to the atv sport. I just bought my first atv in December. It is a Rancher with manual transmission. Being this is my first atv, I do not know very much about them. This forum, however, has really helped. I do have a question though. Before riding my Rancher, I have to let it warm-up for about 10 minutes. If I don't, it many times will not shift into 2nd or 3rd. After it warms up it shifts fine. Is this normal? Thanks, Billy

Welcome to the wonderful world of quads, Billy, and to the forum also. Most bikes that I know of use the same oil in the tranny as they do for the engine so depending on the temp. where you live, the oil tends to become thicker when left over night, making the tranny difficult to shift until the oil warms up.

Second that welcome, though I haven't been ATVing very long either. A year ago I didn't even like atvs, figured they were a noisy intrusion into the outdoors, now I have two of them! (Though there are still places/circumstances I prefer not to hear engine noise--but I would guess most of us feel that way). Anyway, bought a Recon and liked it so much ten days later got a Rancher. Good luck with yours. You might find it will loosen up some after a little use.
And ditto hot shoe about the Blue Ribbon Coalition--don't let the Green Gestapo take our country away from us.
