97 sportsman 400 counter balance fluid

Question 97 sportsman 400 counter balance fluid

The fluid is milky, i need to replace with 30 weight oil right? where is the drain plug?

hopefully you submerged it . i hope it's not antifreeze

You might have to get into the counter balancer and replace seals, normally "milky" means antifreeze is getting by. But in any case the plug should be in the middle underneath, and have a phillips head and or 10mm/3/8" head

oh man i was hoping I was just missing something. I pulled that one first and clean green antifreeze came out. I was hoping that was part of the water jacket/cooling system. I need a service manual. Are there any free downloads for one.

Read my post 2000 scrambler 400 leaking antifreeze.. I am in the process of doing the same repairs on mine. W/p is leaking into cb and crankcase. Parts for mine should be here soon and i will let you know how hard it was.. Pulling apart was not that bad. Good luck
