JUST GOT A RANCHER 4X AND A RECON. I LOVE THE RANCHER BUT HAVE MORE FUN ON RECON. CAN YOU ATV EXPERTS TELL WHEN AND WERE I CAN GET THIS PRODUCT WHEN IT BECOMES AVAILIBLE. ALSO THE BIG QUESTION I HAVE IS THIS MODIFICATION FACTORY RECOMENDED. AND WILL IT EFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OR LONGEVITY OF THE MACHINE. I JUST HOPE IT IS NOT SOME MICKEY MOUSE SYSTEM THAT COULD BE DETRIMENTAL TO MY RANCHER. LET ME KNOW GUYS!

hennyhog, Remember the "un-locker" is made by Tractech, which has been making locking differentials for over 50 years!!

I doubt very seriously if this mod will be factory recomended. As far as being Mickey Mouse...The prototype looked to be very heavy duty. The High-Lifter guys assured me that the company that makes them is a very reputable company. They have been making lockers for trucks and quads for years. They have looked at the longevity factor, and decided on a cable actuated system. They looked into pneaumatic, hydraulic, and electric actuation but said the reliability would not be as good.

The way I understand it is that you can shift on the fly with it as long as you don't do it if the back wheels are turning faster than the front wheels. They sold me....but I can't wait to see the article on it in the next issue of Dirtwheels.
