Cool awd,1995 400 xplorer

good day,
noticed that the right front tire is not spinning in awd....
is it suppose too?
left spins but right does not...
are both tires suppose to spin or engage at the same time?

if so, what could be the issue?

yes it is supposed to. Could be a few things..

The thing id check first is wire running the awd coil on that wheel. It could be broken or the coil could be bad. If the wire is broken you can solder it back together and be done, but if you cant find a break next step is to take the plastic off the gas tank area and find the coil wires. Check the wires for around 22 ohms. The wires should be gray and very small.

yep.. check those first. The coils are magnets that activate the clutchs in the hubs.

If you havnt done it yet its also a good idea to change the hub fluid out. If its low on fluid it may keep it from engaging.

Check to see if there is 12 volts coming out ofthe circuit board, unhook the wires that go to the hub, turn key and awd switch on see if you have 12 volts, if you do then it is between there and magnet, maybe broken wire or magnet, you can take the hub apart and check the hilliard clutch, then put the armature plate against the magnet with the awd switch and key on should be very hard to remove armature plate if magnet is working.

As I stated in a earlier post.I normally find a broken wire to the wheel not spinning..Each wheel has two small wires that run up to the electrial hookup..They are in a plastic loom tthat are bolted to your strut..Almost 100% this is the problem..

hes reading 23ohms. if the wires were broken he wouldnt get an ohm reading.........

23 ohms means your coil should be good. what i would do next is disassemble the hub, clean it out and look for obvious problems. On my 94 sportsman i sheared a keyway on the axle. later years (i think 95 but maybe not)came with a splined axle (much stronger) but maybe there is a chance yours is still keyed...
