Polaris XP 850 Glacier II PLow
#1
Anyone running a Glacier II Plow on their '09 or '10 XP 850. I got mine all hooked up after a snafu trying to use an aftermarket winch. Now I have the Polaris winch and mount and have been using the plow. It works great except the plow frame rubs on the pavement. I know my suspension in front is set to the loosest setting but I'm not sure if adjusting the front suspension will cure the problem.. Anybody having the same issue or know how to remedy it?? Thanks..

For plowing, you're probably going to need to stiffen up the front suspension. Try adjusting your shocks on the stiffest setting. If that doesn't do it, you may need to either go to a stiffer spring or try something like a spring spacer. Others are having the same problem with the G2.

Adjust your front springs to the stiffest setting, this will help but you will still have some issues if you're breaking hard. If you also play around with how far out you have the winch this will help as well. Polaris should come up with a different design, the current design you're basically dragging the frame of the plow on the pavement.. SUCKS..

Mine doesn't drag on the ground but about 1/2" to 3/4" above the ground when the plow is down. You could get a taller wear bar if you're sure the setup is correct on your plow now.
The only real problem I've had is the back of the blade rubbing on the front tires when the plow is angled all the way left or right.

I was bragging up the Glacier II a couple months ago. Now, after having some experience plowing with it - I miss my Glacier I. Like stated, the plow frame rubs on the ground. The pro's of the Glacier I is the great lift that it has. The negative is the wear bar is about an inch from the ground and it constantly catches and digs flatening the springs and then the front tires come off the ground.
Hopefully just tightening down the springs on the suspension and on the plow will help. If that doesn't work I may have to cut out an inch of steel from the mount and reweld it.

Well it seems that I am having the same issue but the dealer called Polaris and they insist that it is the correct frame and that it seems that I am the only one having an issue. I have all but ruined the driveway because of the frame digging into it and leaving gauges as well as the fact that the frame has just about worn through at the bottom after only four snowstorms. This is the biggest hunk of s#@%t setup they could have come out with. I finally bent the frame badly enough that it is currently being re worked by a local weld shop. They are going to shorten the down tubes by 2" and beef it all up. I will post pictures when I get it back. I had zero problems with the Glacier I on my former 800 and am disgusted with Polaris and the fact that they built this setup and put it on the 850 and could actually look at it and say "alrighty then....looks great...lets go have a beer" they should be ashamed and there should be a new design along with a recall in my opinion.
