hears the readers digest version. aprox. a month ago I bought my first four wheeler a 2004 sportsman 700 twin w/ 152 hrs.Bought it to plow & play.After getting stuck on my first trail I found the awd was not working eventhough the awd light shows up. Bought the manual tested the volts and resistance to the coils(gearcase) every thing checked out. Pulled the gearcase as per manual pulled off outer cover and plugged coils back in to recheck...found no magnitizim. Can't buy just the outer cover from polaris must buy whole new gearcase... just installed new case blocked up and tested...still does not work whats up????????? ready to put a bullet in it!

did you check to see if the roller cage was broke and how was the springs and rollers?

 

Happy new year! thanks for the reply. I just installed the brand new gearcase bought from polaris,and I'm having the same issue. Even tried a brand new battery w/ all accessories disconnected, still the same.

 

you said the speedo works fine right??

 

The only thing I can think of is a wiring problem. Even through I've troubble shot the electrics per the manual, everything seams to check out?

 

yes the speedo works correctly.

 

hhhmmm that is strange indeed. if your getting power down to the front end and everything has been replaced and turning correctly, i can't imagine what it would be sorry to say.

 

sorry for the delay in responding I have dialup and have to "refresh" each time to see the new response. I tried to give as much detail as to what I've check up to having to buy an 800 dollar gearcase. Ive checked power to the connection that goes down to the diff. 11.4 vdc speedo and the diagnostic test through the speedo checks out.

 

with the bike blocked up and in low w/the awd switch in the on position and indicator light on in the speedo the rear wheels spining and the front drive shaft spinning and the new diff. installed still nothing.!!

 

Another thread was talking aboiut changing the hub fluid and that woked for them.
