Smile ???do i have a sportsman polaris???

hi there everyone,
i have a polaris 4x4 quad that i bought that has a (379cc on barrel) 400 on head 2 stroke watercooled engine built by robin manufacturing in it, currently in pieces and im not quite sure of the model of the quad or where the best spot to get parts would be. i think its a sportsman!

any help or suggestions would be great!

Thanks for reply, from memory the engine to gearbox is belt drive ( similar to what honda odyssey had i think) and then i think it is chain!

I will have a look tomorrow night after work as i'm storing in my fathers shed.

Is there any where on the frame i should be looking that will tell me?

all polaris bikes are belt drive that are the automatics(no clutch). the vin# should be stamped some where on the frame rail and they had a sticker to tell year of bike as well some where up front as well maybe under fender onthe right side when sitting on bike. if it's a chain drive w/ sprokets, most likley not a sportsman. imo

where did you fnd tat number? usually the vin# is longer then that and maybe w/ letters. it looks like it might me an Xplorer 400 but not sure. looking at earlier sportsmans they had a differnt style head light say like around 95' area. maybe someone w/ the older bike knowledge will know for sure.

That 400 two smoker is a heck of a motor. I ran a Xplorer 400 for a while and found it really quick, and nice handling too. If you can get that quad back together, it's a nice machine.
