Default 2006 sPORTSMAN 500 EFI PROBLEM

There was an older post about Sportsman 500 EFI not liking water..We have a 2006 Sportsman 500 EFI that runs fine until it hits a small amount of water(splashing up under atv) and it starts missing and back firing..Today riding in the snow the same problem occured when riding in melting snow.Let the atv set for a short period and it runs fine..I am thinking the tires are throwing water on something that causes the problem..OPT or anyone have any suggestions...

I'm trying to remember but I think it's a coil issue...

agreed it sounds like a bad plug wire.

After completely stripping the plastic (body panels) twice we found the problem..There are two wires running from the crankshaft position sensor to the main wiring harness on the left side of atv.Where the wires crossed the hot wire (red wire) that goes to the starter both wires had rubbed through.(sensor wires and starter hot wire)When water came in contact this was shorting the atv out.without the moisture the atv ran fine..You folks with 500 Efi's may want to check yours out..

Good info for sure...I think with all the wire rubbing problems these machines have, Polaris should run more wires in looms for protection...JMO...
