had the battery off today on my 99 500 sportsman....i was changing the starter bendix and solenoid...now when i turn the key on, the speedo has what looks to be "SEt Hr" or "SEr Hr" in the mileage part...i have never seen this and have had the battery out numerous times...any ideas? if i hit the button, the hrs and odo all work...just has the "set hr" everytime i start it now

 

never heard of it. u shure its a 99? they came out with the digital white face in 2000 unless urs was a mid yr one.

 

Mine has a clock besides the hour meter, do you need to reset your clock?

if it has a white face and is around 2000 there is no clock to set on them

 

2000 was the first digital speedo a 99 speedo should look like our 97's analog speedo below.

I have a 99 xplorer with a digital speedo, so they do have 99's with the digitals; however, no clocks on them. Can't help you fix the problem, just wanted to let you know they did make 99's with digitals.

had it for 8 years, and torn it apart so i am sure its a 99
it is the digital speedo too, cost me $300 bucks when the first one went out a few years back!!! dang stealership!
and i have never seen this either...has me baffled. i dont think it has a clock on it so i am unsure as to what it wants me to set?? hoping someone else will pop in. thanks

 

i was at a dealer ship today looking at atvs. they had a 99 sportsman with the digital one. it was made 10/somthing/99 must been the 2000 yr model. try pressing the black button and turn on the key. see what it dose. i did it to the one they had. it did funky stuff. but then shut it off and was normal.
