So I need to change my front drive fluid in my 02 sportsman 700. A buddy of mine was taking the drive to the Polaris dealer so I asked him to pick me up the 8oz bottle of demand drive front differential fluid. What he brought back was a 12oz blue bottle of Polaris demand drive fluid. Is this correct for my application?

There are 2 types of Demand Drive fliuds ,one for the Hubs and one for the front diff Hilliary set up. I think there may be 3rd for ATVs with ADC braking also.

Whats wrong with that stuff? It says for hub AND centralized Hilliard. I would think that it will work.

Its confusing but the Hub stuff was not designed for the newer single AWD system. Why would polaris make so many kinds? "Demand Drive Plus", LT DEMAND DRIVE FLUID" and "Demand Drive" I quess its safe to count out "ADC Fliud" LOL.

 

I think your right, all the others seem to only be needed if the ATV has ADC. So he is good to go ,but you have to admit Polaris makes to many Drive fluids to choose from.

 

I doubt it is polaris changing the fluid choices. My guess is the Hilliard corporation changing the specs on the fluid, they are the vendor for the front diff.

 

So, does my 02 sportsman 700 have the fluid in the hubs or center differential? I know the 700 is unique in the 02 family, its more like an 03. its should be the same as the 03-04

 

I know my 02 700 does not have fluid in the hubs. There are really no hubs at all, they are sealed roller bearings where the axles come through.( I just replaced an axle a couple moths ago and had it all apart.) But I dont know what diff fluid you should use as I have never changed mine either. By the way the build date on mine is 10/30/01.

 

700's were the first with the new central AWD system I think.

 

The 2002 Sportsman 700 was the first Polaris atv to us the centralized front differental.You can use the demand drive fluid or the new DEMAND DRIVE PLUS which replaces all the previous hub and demand drive fluid.We use only the new DEMAND DRIVE PLUS on all our Sportsman's..1999-2010..400-450-500-550-600-700-800-850 and RAZR'S.
