Default 2000 300 4x4 front differential seals

Seems both my front diffferential seals are leaking, how difficult are those to change out? Any special tools required? Thanks!

No, only special thing I can think of is a 30mm socket to get the castle nut off.

You have to remove the front axles to get to the seals.

If you can change a wheel bearing you can change a diff seal.

1) remove tire
2)remove brake caliper
3) remove hub
4) drain differential fluid
5) remove the axle (do this by pushing it in as far as it will go then pulling it out quickly and it will come out of the differential.) some fluid will still run out so be ready.
6) remove the seal and clean the surface.
7) lightly grease and install new seal
8) repeat steps 1-5 in reverse order.

If it is a small seap then I would wait if it leaves a puddle of fluid after it sits a few days then I would change it and make sure you check your wheel bearings and differential bearing as well.

I have a few pictures from taking it down to the axle as I just replaced my wheel bearings and decided to take some pictures for a "how to" if you need them I can get them to you.
