My ex is very slow and i want some more speed. Im new to the atv world and dont know anything bout what modifications i can get but can someone help me out. I just need to know what i need to do to make my 250ex go faster without spending over a grand and taking away what its already got such as power. Thanks

 

The 2001 parts unlimited catalogs are coming out soon I would see what is in there. I want a white bros e series, k&n filter for my 250EX. For cosmetics an AC racing bumper with a mudscreen for a 400EX will probably work on the 250EX. I got mine wed. night.

 

You know of any mods that will make this bike faster? Im new to all this so I have no idea what i can do and cant do to my bike.

 

There is not much you can do right now but wait for the aftermarket to come out with some stuff.

Yes the the white brothers slip on is supposed to add 2-4 horsepower, and a K&N filter and jet kit will make a dramatic increase in horsepower also.

 

How much you think that stuff will go for?

 

Sell it and buy a 400ex. You'll get a lot more speed for your money.

You could spend the difference in price of the two machines on the 250ex and it still wouldn't be as fast or as good.

 

It is going to be more difficult to find more speed in the 250ex. It is a disavantage of shaft drive. You can get a bigger main Carb jet a better air filter and a less restrictive pipe which if done correctly will add more power to the 250ex but not more top speed. On chine drive bikes they can do the items mentioned above and then change their chain sprokets to take advantage of the extra power to give them more speed. On the shaft drive you could run a bigger tire, which would make it a little faster, or find different gears somwhere. I imagine the longer the 250ex is out the more options you will have. I'm still looking for a taller 5th gear for the Recon.

 

On the Recon (which shares a slightly less powerfulmotor with 250EX) the snorkle has a very small opening. Looking at the EX, it seems to have the same one. You could probably open it up and go with new filter and jet kit and feel a fairly good increase.

 

wont mods for recon work? Anyway i cant wait to fix up my wifes 250ex.
