Here's my new 250R pictures I promised you

Well, it's done. I traded my Raptor plus $1,500 for a 1988 250r. It belonged to a pro racer named Keith Little and he sold it to his friend and that's who I bought if from. When he bought it from Keith, he bought all new plastic and basically restored it. This thing is awsome. I realize it will need more maintance than a new 4 stroke, but I'm looking forward to learning more about maintance and engine assembly. The bike runs great, but its sometimes a little sluggish until the plug clears, then it screams. It hasn't been ridden much lately and it seems to get better the more I ride it. I guess that's one of the differences between 2 and 4 strokes? Anyway, I look forward to learning more about the R from your experiences and here are the pictures I promised...

At the main page, click the drop-down menu and go to 'Yahoo Photo Album' and then you will see the '1988 Honda 250R' folder.
Thanks,

I couldn't see the pics, it was asking for a password and I don't have an account. However I have seen the pic from traderonline and it was, I guess beautiful won't even do it justice.I have spoken to many people who sold their 2strokes to get a Raptor or Ds and regret it very much, how do you compare this new ride to your Raptor? The R is much faster right, you love the way you can blast through a corner on it don't you? Congrats man, have fun!

Its a nice bike but i dont understand why you got it. From ur other posts i know you like to trail ride at your fathers(?) ranch. THat r isnt gonna go any where on trials. That quad wont even do good on an mx track. Since your proably not raicng tt you shoud: by a new pipe(mid range), new shocks(tt shocks tower the bike), longer swign arm(tt swing arms are made short for better tracktion), remove sway bar and lowering kits if it has one. Now you can ride off flat terrain.

I can't get your videos on your site to work. THey will only load about 3 seconds of each one. (and play only 3 seconds of each one) could you send them to my email address so that I could view them off of my hard drive? dan8785@hotmail.com

BarryManilow,
I'm not sure why you couldn't see the pics. It's a public photo album and available to everyone. Did you try clicking on the 250R folder and then click on the thumbnail pictures? Maybe you are trying to enter my editing screen, which will require a password?

So far, I've only ridden the 250 around the neighborhood and the Raptor doesn't even compare to the 250 as far as the cornering goes. Since the speed comes on different, it's hard to tell how much faster it is (make no mistake, the Raptor is FAST - as it should be w/ 660cc). After sitting on the 250 and then getting on the Raptor, it feels like the Raptor is sitting on stilts. I think all SPORT quads should have a stance like the 250R. Also the Raptor could be left wide open in top gear and it would just cruise along, but the 250 seems to hit it's max speed and then flatten out. Is this common on 2 strokes? The acceleration and hit is much harder on the 250R.
I LOVE IT!!!

bayou220atv,
Do you have QuickTime loaded. If so, you may not have enough memory. The videos are several megs in size and rather large to send through email. Do you still want me to try it? By the way, they are Raptor videos and not of the 250R.

Matt,
The reason I bought it was because it was something different. Like I said before, the Raptors are just getting started and I can always get another one next year (although, I'm not planning on it). As far as rugged trail riding goes, I've probably had just as much fun - and maybe more - on sport utilities. I'm thinking about getting the new Prairie 650 V-Twin when it comes out.
You're right, the way it is set up, it will not go anywere on trails. I need to get some different tires and remove the sway bar - it handles like a go cart. So, you think I should go with a different exhaust? What would you recommend? I will probably leave the shocks and sway bar alone though.
Thanks for the help and I look forward to more...
