I have a 96 scrambler and when ever I am backing down my loading ramps or backing down a hill my quad makes a loud clunking noise. Does anyone know what this is and how to fix it. It would really help me.
Thanks

Check your chain, make sure of the ajustment and lube. While your doing this also check your sprockets.

I'm not really an expert at things like this so do you think you could tell me with more detail what to check, how to check it, and everything else. Any other input would be helpful also. Thankyou

Every link in the chain must bend easily in both directions. Any kinking or binding in the chain will cause clunking and vibration.

The chain should roll freely around the sprockets without bunching or binding.

The shape of each sprocket tooth should look the same on both sides of the tooth . Any indication of "hooking" on the teeth indicates that the sprockets should be replaced.

Sometimes the engine's output shaft support bushing will go bad if it is not lubricated on a regular basis.

Have you been greasing your rear axle housing carrier housing bearings on a regular basis?
