Polaris 500sp axle issue????

Unhappy Polaris 500sp axle issue????

I have an 02 Polaris 500 sp and I noticed that the axle on the right side can be wiggle .Is this normal because I have had both axle out and both rear wheel bearings replaced.I've also replaced the clip on the side that wiggles.The reason the clip was replaced was because the axcel was moving around after a long ride enough that with the weak clip it pulled it's way out enough to start wobbling around and causing a noise.After I put the new clip in it still wiggled I decided to try and pull it back out and it's in there pritty good.The thing is it still moves or wobbles the other side is a good tight fit should I just drive it or should I start looking for a new transmission with 2 good cages or what???I don't know what to do should I put it back together and sell it???It's not the brand it's neglect from the previous owner anyways I'd appreciate some input as to what to do.

You have to make sure the axle is push back all the way in so the compression circlip pop up in its grove, are the CV joints still tight? I have seen one case were the splines in the tranny were worn out,I hope its not that.

But thats pretty well it for axle play,wheel bearing or CV joint or circlip not in position, check all those.

Well I hope it's not that to I can get a good used trans with good splines in the tranny.He only wants $250 for it.This would be the way to go than the dealer....I'm pretty handy but I don't want to tear into the tranny if I don't have to.Thanks for the reply and I'll let you know what happens.

Chances are it not the tranny spline,and if its the one of the other 3 things ,there all faily easy to fix.

Well it is the spline in side the cases of the trans.I checked the price of the spline $250 plus tax that is one piece gear and the spline is in the center.Once I start you I can see it being alot more than that.I managed to find a trans complete for $250 and a used clutch for $80.I am going to pick it up in the next week or so.I am going run the bike the way it is till then or longer maybe till it gets worse atleast I'll have a back up.I'm wondering if the axcel could be worn instead is there a measurement or way to tell wear ????

Why did you need to buy a clutch for $80? As long as the axel spline looks the same as the wheel hub end it should be still good.

I thought I should pick a clutch up just incase I needed it you never know.I was only going to replace it when I needed it.I was going to replace the universals on my 500sp do you know if they are all the same and what the parts# are.Thanks for the reply.

Here is a good link to read through on getting parts from a auto parts store instead of a dealer for much more money. Make a list of common numbers we need u joints should be in there somewhere.
