05 Sportsman 400 cv boot
#1
I am trying to replace the cv boot. I got everything apart but I can not get the joint or shaft apart so I can finish taking the cv boot off. I have yanked on it. I have beat on it with a rubber mallet but nothing will move it. Any ideas as to how I can get it off?

There are 2 locking rings, the first big 1 is easy to see but the 2nd holding the nut on the splines gets covered with grease and for me is always the hardest part. If the 2nd ring is the problem you need to hold it, expand it, out of the groove and then tap the nut off.

When I rip a boot I take the CV totally apart and clean out the old grease and any dirt before putting the new grease in and boot on. The ***** roll off the table and all over the floor sometimes while doing it. LOL
Your right they do not make replacement parts for CV even though they do come apart and go back together. I think its a scam myself.
