I inherited (got free) a 2000 Sportsman 90 2 cycle atv that doesn't run. It sat for a couple of years. So far I have cleaned the carb and it appears okay, put in a new battery and the motor spins okay but there is no power to the plug wire. I'm trying to troubleshoot it on a very low budget. Actually got shocked once while checking the spark, but nothing since and it also has a new plug. Any ideas on what to do or know where I can get a free service manual? Thanks!

 

Try another plug from anything you know that works, lawn mower or something,touch the plug to the motor or frame and give it a pull. You have to find out if there is spark or not. If no spark try the simple stuff first then move to the pricey ,killswitch, key if it has one, Ign coil ,Stator,CDI.

welcome to the forum. did this set were moisture can get at it and may have rusted say flywheel or something else that needs nice contact for the fire to flow? just a thought after checking what was mentioned.
