Default Help with ignition key wires

On my 97 Scrambler 400 the ignition was replaced with a universal unit and the wiring is all different. I want to just bypass the key all together if possible and throw in a toggle switch hidden somewhere to kill spark. Can anyone help me out with a diagram or explain what wire does what?

There is a thick about 12 guage red, and red/black. Then a black(ground) and a brown wire I have no idea where it goes.

This Question was asked many times with different makes/models.

The Forum users will not provide much info just in case it gets in the wrong hands and people reading this thread can get info on how to by-pass the key switch.
Just to let you know...Caper........
Someone may sent you a PM if they know you I guess....

Take it to your local dealer. and ask the mechanic to mark the wires needed to preform this action .

How would answering this question mean that someone can hot wire a quad? Right now the ignition is dis-connected and it still has spark, so if someone where to steal it all you have to do is unplug the key switch.

I'm not going to take this quad an hour to the closest dealer and pay them $100 to tell me what wire goes where. I guess I will have to figure it out for myself then.

I will assume that when the brown wire and black wire are connected that the engine will not run. When the red/blk and red wire are connected the starter will engage then when dis-connected will run, or just pull start with all wires dis-connected and run.

You have all the information right there. I know sometimes its hard to make sense out of it without a schematic but all the info you need is there.
To make it all easier if I have a machine thats worth anything over 1k and all I had to do was drive it an hour away (basically just across town "Toronto") and spend $100 bucks to be able to have a Polaris mechanic tell me witch wires I need to use I`d say thats a $100 bucks well spent, or you could just find a wreckers and get another (new to your quad) switch.
Anyone will and is willing to help you brother, there is allot of knowledge here and we all want to see you going trouble free. But when someone starts asking about ignition switches and how to manipulate them we tend to get defensive.
It`s like a band of brothers here all willing to help we just don`t want to let the bad guy in. So try to understand we are here to help you.
