2006 kawasaki brute sorry for the Kawasaki in the polaris
#1
Sorry about posting about a Kawasaki but the Kawasaki forum is so slow compared to this awesome polaris forum so I only ever owned polaris atvs (WHICH I LOVE AND ARE THE BEST) but i am looking into a 06 brute bcause its cheap. I can get it from the dealer for 4200 out the door total. Is it a good deal i think its a steal. Is there anything i should know about the brutes compared to the polaris atv and what are some of your opinions a sportsman vs. a brute. I know power and speed is a major + for the brute but im more concerned about ride, Do the brutes rude nice and such just any basic info on them are they reliable and what is with the sway bars on them do they just pop out on there own??Thanks, Polaris man with issues

I rode many Quads with IRS and Polaris are by far the softest out there.......
That's about all the info I can tell you never rode a Brute. Drove the 360 KVF soild rear axle and very rough .....But I can't compare that to my Sportsman ride though.........................Good luck I am sure someone on this Forum will have more info for you........Caper.........

My friend has a brute and it does have alot more power and speed compared to my 500.. but the steering is heavy and I also the 06 is a carb model not FI...so it drinks the fuel. I had looked at these before buying my 07 500 which I have been very happy with.

These are good machines BUT if you have engine problems it will cost you a fortune. You could rebuild three or four Polaris engines for what it costs to do one of these if you throw a rod.
The engines are decent and they are reliable as long as you keep good clean quality synthetic oil in them they seldom give problems.
The question is did the former owner do this?
The problems I see with them is people use poor quality oil and run them low and don't change it often enough. They get out in the open and run them hard for a long distance and the engine comes apart.
The Kawasaki oil is some of the worst crap ever made. Was it ran with this oil?
If you buy this ATV as soon as you get it home change the oil. Use a good quality full synthetic oil and change it at least every 40 hours. Check it every time you ride. NEVER EVER run it even slightly low on oil.

they handle worse, not true awd w/ out locking the fornt end. they don't ride nearly as smooth. but the brutres are a nice bike. just make sure it's never been dunk under water as very hard on the engine for sure as most but they seem to be a little worse. not sure which one your looking at, but my freinds had issues w/ some wiring under the seat.

Compared to the Polaris the kawi is made very cheesy and light compared to the polaris 500. The drive shafts are as thick as your pinky compared to the Polaris with a very big driveshafts and the sway bar is very strange on the kawi it's all Hal and coupler which are a plastic thing with a plastic retainer they are very cheesy to the Polaris sway bar which is all steel and bolts no *****
