cage and rollers was fine, i tested the volts from the switch and it was fine, i tested the ohms from the coil and it was fine, but when i pluged it back together it didnt work, then i cut the brown /w wire and grounded it to the frame from the front case and it worked then, so my ? now is is it the switch, speedo or what causeing me to have to ground out the wire to make my awd work

is your speedo working?the awd is ran through the speedo and if it doesn't work then neither will the awd. by what it sounds, you have found the way around w/ the brown/white wire then is like number 14(guessing)in the speedo harness which you ground out and the awd will work.
