Question Painting my ATV....Smart or Not??

I was thinking of painting my ATV it is a green sportsmen 400. I'm thinking of painting it all black with blue flames. It is used for mudding and farm use. I wanted to get the whole thing custom painted. I just was wondering does the paint scratch easly? Do you think its smart to paint it? Just wondering what you guys think.

Not only will the paint scratch, it will also crack when the plastic flexes and bends.

i've seen a couple of quads that had the "camo wrap" on them. looked good. wonder if one of them places could custom make your black w/flames and make it a wrap for your quad.........

If your painting the frame your fine. but plastics are pretty hard to do right and can scratch and crack.

I have had moderate success in painting my quad plastics with Krylon "Fusion" paints (available at WalMart) but even with good surface prep and painting techniques, they do get scratched with regular riding...I would imagine mudding and farm use would compound the scratching problem to the point of it not being worth the effort. I might add that I didn't change the color of the quad...kept my Honda red, my son's LT50 and LT160 Suzuki yellow, and my Vinson forest green

X2 Krylon Fusion is the way to go. It bonds with plastic on a molecular level.

I've never seen a painted atv that didn't look like sh*it after a few trail rides.
There's a lot of shops that'll do vinyl kits for your atv for under $150 and it'll look better in the long run.

this is just one site for example-

Quad Graphic Kits, ATV Graphics, Yamaha Quad Graphic Kits, Kawasaki Quad Graphic Kits, Suzuki Quad Graphic Kits, Honda Quad Graphic Kits, KTM Quad Graphic Kits, Polaris Quad Graphic Kits
