Slip on help
#1
Hi everyone first post here. I have a 2000 ds 650 all stock and I want to do some small upgrades. I'm planning on getting a k&n air filter and a big gun cdi I also want to get a slip on but idk what one to get. I want as much power as possible but not to loud. And if I did all of this what tuning should I do to carb ect. Thanks

Welcome aboard. First you will want to do the OMR stock carb mods. Without fail.
You'll get lots of different opinions on this one but I'll give you mine. HMF is probably the quietest slip on. Yoshi is probably the best performing. And there are a host of others in between. There is a great performing open end cap out there but definitely not quiet. Then there are end caps with discs that can be adjusted for sound/performance.
Do the OMR mods first, it's FREE.

Welcome to the forums infantryvet. Semper Fi
There is a weight savings to be sure, but the DS exhaust from the headers on back is a very well tuned stock exhaust and by opening up the cannister with either the open endcap or the SuperTrapp disced system you get that much more at a fraction of the cost of a slip-on or complete system.
Scott, might as well wait till next season, the 10 day forecast for Glamis shows high 80's all the way through and it's only going to get hotter from here on out. I've still got three or four trips planned depending on the weather so it's up to you.
