02 sportsman 400 front hubs lube?
#1
I have a 02 sportsman 400 4x4 and want to change the fluid in the front
hubs. I have read I can use a 80-90 w gear lube gl5? Is this true? How
much fluid do i add and how do i do it. Thank You!

you need the correct hub fluid to make them work correctly and not to have issues later on. ther is an allen screw on the hub side that you take out and i think turn it to the 3 oclock position to fill(not 100% sure). maybe some one w/ the older hubs style can say on the filling for sure.

Don't put 80-90W in your front hubs. You can alternatively use ATF Type F transmission fluid, but why not just go with the best? Use the Polaris OEM demand drive fluid.
Rotate to either 4 or 8 O'clock and fluid should just trickle out when it's the correct level.

Are you talking about the actual hubs out at the wheels or the front differential/gear box? You need the hub fluid out at the wheel hubs. You can use about any good 80/90 for the front diff. That's one of the things I really miss about the older bikes. Not as sensitive and built much stronger IMO.
