Default Stupid 2-stroke exhaust question..

Working on my sons LT80, waiting for a reply on the post I made in the "ask an expert" area...

Remember seeing it mentioned several times that the pipe may clog up, and need to be heated up "cherry red" to clear out all the gunk. Pulled the pipe, and couldn't get much air to flow through it, so I started a fire, and threw it on for a while. Smoke, then fire out of both ends, and after a half hour or so pulled it. Tried blowing through it with the compressor, and it seems like I'm not getting much air through it.

How much airflow should I get through a stock pipe?

I mean should it be more or less unimpeded? Should it be a noticeable difference? High pressure in, barely anything out?

I honestly don't know if it's clogged, or not at this point.

Thanks In Advance!

based on my experience.... on a car there is little to no resistance (so minnimel that you wouldnt know it) when you blow through a new exhaust set up a lawnmower weedeater is the same way. if it is clogged you are going to build backpressure and have a loss of performance the more its clogged the worse it will run to the point it will not run at all

Thanks for the reply.

I pulled the pipe out after another round on the coals. This time for a while longer (it was back on when I posted). Tapped it with a hammer for a while, and got more flaky crapola out of it. I am definitely getting more air flow through it now. I put it back on the quad, and it's better, but still not right. don't know if I got it cleaned out enough. Not much more I can do though.

take the pipe to a auto machine shop and let them acid soak the pipe that should clean it out.
