I have not heard of any major issues with this model, but it is to big for 99% of the 11 y/o out there I am afraid. Any 4x4 has a good amount of mass to it, and an 11 y/o is not going to be strong enough to handle that beast in an emergency. I would stick with a 90 unless he has significant experience.

If you need 4x4 try a 250 trailblazer.

The wolvy 450s are great quads. Just as others have said it might be a bit much for him at 11. I am starting to look for something for my son now and he is real small and is 8 years old so I want to get something he can grow with for a few years. Sometimes a non 4x4 is a better option for a starter quad. Less weight, less expensive etc., I looked at some grizzly 125s and they are just ridiculously priced even used. Good luck

Ya i was thinking maybe to big also but my nephew is a big kid and learns fast,i figure he can grow into it and keep it for a long time, plus his father could enjoy it too.

At 477 lbs the older 350 Wolverines where the lightest 4wd ATV ever built if you can find one of those. They where even lighter then the 250 4wd that use to be made, the last model was made in 2005 I think.

Its is even lighter than a 2wd 350 Grizzly. 2005 Yamaha Wolverine 4X4 ATVs

if he's into the crossover sport / 4x4's like the wolvy, don't rule out the scrambler-
