Default Sportsman X2 Cargo Box/Rear fender Gap

I thought I read a post somewhere that someone had a fix for this and was going to share, but I never did see the fix. Does anyone know of one?

For those not familiar with the problem, most X2s, including mine, develop a gap between the rear cargo box and the fenders. This is due to sagging of the rear portion of the X2 footwells. I can personally verify this as one had sagged enough that the bar was starting to interfere with the shift linkage at the tranny connect point.

I have done some bending and prying but have yet to get the gap to close up much, if at all.

Thanks

Hey, crashin, I had a similar situation except I looked at the two U-Channels that the hooks latch onto. They are mounted to the frame under the front of the dumpbox. Mine had actually dug into the U-Channel metal about 3/16". I used a 7/8" square bar of aluminum, drilled a hole through the top of the U-Channel, cut the aluminum bar to 2" for each side and drilled and tapped a 1/4"x20 machine screw hole in each in line with where I drilled the U-Channel. Bolted them on and now the box is much more closed than before. It is a little hard to open but I'd rather have the dumpbox lined up the way it was when I got it. Hope this helps a bit. Not sure on bending the footwell frames back. If you can get them back you might be able to weld a diagonal brace on each side to stiffen it up.
