are there dvd's, or an online school or books? I am dying to work on ATVs as a career but I am just starting out. there are literally no small engine repair schools in my whole state, KY.

I have been doing that too but it is very unstructured. If there was a course it would cover everything. I do watch as many random youtube videos as I can find though.

thanks : )

You can watch all the videos you want, but it's gonna take a few bloody knuckles before you figure out the stuff not to do.

You could always buy a few Chinese quads.. plenty of opportunity for wrenching and learning..

If you're not in a position to go to attend school to work on ATVs, the best way to learn is just to get out there and start working. Troubleshoot as many problems as you can. Most small engine repairs are not difficult, but it does take time and experience to learn the ins and outs.

Since you're looking for something structured, I really recommend you get a Clymer Manual. They're very detailed and include even basic information about tools and shop practices for someone who is just starting out. Most of the manuals are around $35, but if you're serious about doing your own maintenance, that will pay for itself in no time. We wrote an article about Clymer Manuals a few weeks ago and even did a giveaway. The giveaway has since closed, but I've included the link to the article below.
