Greetings,

A while back we discussed the relative lack of ATV manufacturer ads in ATV magazines versus other types of magazines. I noticed this in spades in comparing the February issues of Successful Farmer and Dirt Wheels:

Progressive Farmer -- a total of 7 1/4 pages
- Arctic Cat 400 - 2 full pages
- Kawasaki 650 - 3 full pages
- Suzuki 500 (+DR-Z400E) - 1 full page (inside back cover
- Yamaha Big Bear/BearTracker - 1 and 1/4 pages

Dirt Wheels -- a total of 3 pages / 1 company
- Kawasaki 650 - 3 full pages (same ad as above)

I can't exactly say what conclusion to draw from this, but I thought it was interesting.

Have you considered the aftermarket parts ads? Then for Dirtwheels, you should reach 258 pages out of 124.

Really -- one could conclude that more is being spent after market than initial market.

As I've mentioned before, there's no real need to advertise quads that are on every cover or at the most every other cover. You can't beat magazines that claim that the same old quad that has been mass produced for over a decade is still the hottest thing on the trail/dunes/farm. When you are looking to convince people who don't have quads that they need quads, then you need to advertise in a place where it isn't a forgone conclusion that they already have product biased minds ie Dirt Wheels.
