For everybody looking to put a rubber bumper on the winch hook I have a cheap fix.
I bought a rubber bumper that is advertised to be placed between the winch hook and when it its drawn tight to the roller fairlead. I put it on mine but my leader was still to long. the clamp that competes the loop in the cable to attach the hook to was still hitting the fairlead.
I bought a small or medium rubber mallet hammer. I took the handle off of the rubber mallet part. I used a 5/8 wood bit and drilled a hole clean through the mallet head. I ran the cable through the hole attached my hook and bingo, rubber bumper, it even looks good.....

 

Good idea. I've heard of people using rollers off a boat trailer too.

 

Yup, you cut the boat roller in half, it already has the hole drilled in it, and you got 2 of them, a spare, or a gift for a fellow rider !!

 

Hockey pucks work pretty well.

 

that's what I use on bout all of mine,,,, works great.

 

I've seen people use these, with pretty good results.
