I have a 86 TRX 250R, It's at a dealer right now getting some minor work done. One thing that will need replacement will be the clutch basket. Im leaning twards putting in a Hinson basket and a 89 upgrage kit (bearing deal). Are there any probs with putting this upgrade on a 86 R? And is it a big deal to put a Hinson basket on? The dealer is one of the few that don't get scared to put hop up parts on...but he said the he dosn't guarentee it...which i said...no kidding. lol

I put the clutch upgrade in my 86R. Took about 1 1/2 hrs to do fooling around. Makes the clutch feel so much better. You'll have no problems with the Hinson basket. While you're at it, get a new clutch cable and an EZ Pull lever. You won't notice much just sitting still but after you ride for awhile you will.

 

Try the RTC clutch lever. You will definitely notice a difference sitting still as well as a riding difference. Upgrading to the HINSON is a smart move. Stay with the stock clutches and springs though. They will last longer.
