Polaris Brake master cylinder questions
#1
Working on a 1997 2wd 300cc Polaris Express. Brakes are good brake master cylinder is bad. Is there a suitable alternative replacement?
$100 for a china MC leaver assembly sounds a little ridiculous...
Almost as ridiculous as the $150+ for the new stock Polaris unit.
So far I have found no rebuild kit for this Master cylinder.
Brake master cylinders are just a simple function of piston size and stroke for fluid displacement.
Brake master cylinder piston Too big = poor stopping power,
too small = too much leaver travel.
It seems like there should be a cheap alternative Street bike application using piston size and volume calculations. With the large number of street bikes running various different caliper sizes and dual caliper applications we should be able to find a suitable QUALITY Japanese replacement.
Any Thoughts? This bike is almost 15 yrs old ~ surely some one has traveled this road before.
Thanks,
Michael

Turns out they are available,
My mistake....
I found the OEM rebuild kit offered on a different micro fiche... Controls / not handle bar.
Just under $60 and not currently in stock. ~ Not as cheap as Honda prices but I guess I can stomach that.
Thanks ~ OPT... Hopefully with free shipping I'll not get hurt too bad. I'll defiantly look closely at Dirt Cheap next time around.
