Hey everyone I have a 86 honda fourtrax 359 4x4 and when I drive it over 30 KPH and let off the gas I start to hear a REALLY LOUD rattling/ crunching noise comming from what seems to be where the shaft goes into the motor or up in the front. The bike doesht lurch or jump but it does gring gears somtimes if that helps?

I also have a 86 Honda 250 that is RWD and it does the same thing but shifts nicly, it sounds like the U joint is hitting the sides of the tube that it sits in but all have good U joints from what Ive seen?

Any Ideas Would Be Appreciated?

 

check frame, alighment, then shocks then alighment on the shaft, andd connectors, could have a gear out of posistion if it inly happenes when you let off gas. ? break the case aans check the gears for broken tooth or abnormal wwear. hope that helps i have t 86 hondas and ive done all that, a good hard ride can explain all the things your saying. at least how i ridr those things.
