trx 300ex (runs like shit)

i got a 94 300ex, it was a farm quad when i bought it. well had to do some mods so i have a fmf powercore 5 (cut down about 6 in) sounds great! k@n air filter, and dynojet kit. today we had a local poker run and all day it just seemed to be doggin out before half throttle. when i got on it hard it ran perfect, but puttin around it sounded like water was going into my air filter and making it poo out. p.s (no drilled airbox, fully enclosed and water tight) well switched my gas to reserve for ***** and giggles and it ran fine till i hit a little baby mud puddel and back to running shitty. went home and cleaned my filter, changed oil and new spark plug. went back out, same thing. does anybody have ideas? i know my jetting isnt off.
thing it may need freshend up with a cylender hone and new rings or ?????? dont know was thinking about boring it up so please shoot me ideas with a kit to go with (no numara) like a j.e- wyesco- magnum
was looking for something cheap and only like a 330 kit or 340. also did a compression test and its 103.8 so may just need rings.
thanks

Compression may be getting low, but if it runs good at WOT, then it sounds like you may have a carb or ignition problem of some kind.
Maybe you are running lean on the pilot screw/jet? Possibly something has clogged the pilot circuit partially and is making it run lean down low? Its definately worth a look before you do the rings.
