1987 warrior was making ticking noise now just cranks and wont start

Default 1987 warrior was making ticking noise now just cranks and wont start
my 87 warrior was making a top end ticking noise rode quad for while added oil rode more and now the quad wont start.could the cam chain be gone how do i diagnose

remove the cam chain cover on the cylinder head.turn the crankshaft slowly and see if the cam shaft turns.if it does check the timing marks and the tensioner .
