hey agian, i still can't get me R to idle. i have a 155 man, 52 pilot, 4 notch, and almost 2 turns out on the airscrew. i have a pipe and no airbox with K&N filter any more suggestion. the book said thepilot jet was 48 stock but most people told me to go to a 50-52, should i try a 48 pilot

I have a 48 pilot in mine and it runs great but I'm thinking about switching to a 58 like FMF suggests. Try turning the idle adjustment screw (choke ***) out ALOT. I had the same problem but I turned it so much that it looked like it was choked all the time but it wasnt and it idles and runs fine now.

Mine was not idling either when I bought it and I thought it was supposed to do that since it was professionally raced by a pro (maybe a rule or something to shut off when not on the bike?). Anyway, we had the carb apart and found a little trash, cleaned it and now it idles fine. Maybe just a fluke?

A 58 pilot! That seems huge for the mods you have listed!

first thing you should do is take the carb off the bike and clean it inside and out you may have a small piece of dirt in the carb or a bent needle
If you dont feel comfortable bring it to a shop.
after it is all cleaned out take some carb cleaner and spray in all the nicks and crannies(holes and other places that may block any flow)
If you are running a 36 carb you want your air screw out between 1 and 2 turns out, 155-165 depending on modifications and temp. 50-55. Needle should be in the center. Call a dealer or aftermarket for new needle if needed.
also clean air filter

Have you cleaned the carb?I definietly would. Does choke button stay up,when pulled up?I had an R that did not want to idle, gave up trying to makeb it, bought a completely new choke & then it would idle, try a new one maybe, costs about $30.00.

yeah i cleaned it completely out. i'm 99% sure its the jetting b/c i tried 2 different carb assemblies and nothing. when i put he 52 pilot in it sounded alot better so i think when i go to a 48 it will idle.
