Default First time atv buyer help???

HI, i'm a first time atv buyer, and i've been around, and road a few. I have my eyes on the wolverine 450, big bear 400, ac xc 450, and king quad 400 fsi. Some are gona ask why the 3.I'll tell you why i want a manual hi-lo, and 4x4. Next thing somone will say the wolverine doesn't have this. Correct you are i loved them since i was a kid and i like the cross over atv. the ac well there supposed to be the ****, But where's there after market at, and ease of fixing in a pinch. Any input would be great, But i'm not lookin for a big twin or care to hear about it. I'm here for what i like, and i'm nit tryin to be disrespectful by doin this. I just have a budget. I pay my own bills out of my own pocket and that's why i'm lookin small, But cheap, and trail capable. Also up for any work task i throw at it.

Thank you

OZZY

Your choices on the atv are great. I have the big bear 400. It works great for me. What are the prices for them?

I would not worry about no low range on the Wolverine, I was a little Leary about buying a Yamaha 350 4x4 Grizzly without a low range but it pulls and push some pretty good loads just fine.
I think Yamaha must clutch them different when the ATV has no low range.

My cousin plows snow with his 500 4x4 Polaris Scrambler without a low range just fine.

The prices vary ac new 7100 pricey when it's made by to me a unproven company kimco. wolvy around 4700 for an 09 used. bb is 5600-6000 hold over from 11&12. kq is around 6000 i think new or a 12 hold over. I've never bn a suzuki fan,But the ac looks freakin mean and the review's are amazing. I've had yamaha dirt bike's, and motorcycle's. Yamaha to me is the best on the market cause i haven't owned anything else. The kq is really rubbing me good though cause the 5 spd. and hi/lo and 4x4. which no one else has all of this in newer model's. Sorry i'm old school gears are fun for me i'm not a prissy guy. It's hard to find a 5spd. 4x4 now let alone one with hi/lo.

Thank you

The wolvy is the **** to me cause i've had a love since i was a kid. The problem with them is the ones i found are pricey to me and road hard and put away wet. I have seen where they quit makin them, but not sure exactly of the last year made i've heard 10,11,and12. If this is the case is there a way i can find a hold over still new sittin somewhere?

Thank you

The 5 speeds 4x4 are getting rare and and the ones that are around like the Hondas and Yamaha Big Bears got rid of the low range sub tranny and offer a "what they call" a super low 1st gear instead.
I think its just a cost saving measure because the older Sub tranny were much more exspensive to produce.
I think the 400 Suzuki King Quad/Eiger and 500 Vinson was the last 5 speed with a dedicated low range sub tranny.

The new 450 Wolverine has little in common with the older 350 Wolverine.

well that sucks yeah i noticed a lot are goin to the super low first gear on a lot of the 5 spd. but is the suzuki even a decent ride with the hi/lo 5spd. i mean trail ride and work wise. Yeah i noticed the new and old wolvy vary very much,But are they still a quality trail and some what work worthy atv. Just curious does anyone have any real world everyday experience with the ac xc 450i.

Thank you
Ozzy

Well need less to say i just bought a new KQ 400 5spd. hi/lo 4x4. I rode 4 fourwheelers at the dealer 09 wolvy,12 AC xc 450,12 big bear 400,and a 09 KQ 400. If you want review of the 4 let me tell you it was interesting for sure. The KQ come out on top to me,But i didn't buy the 09 i bought the 13 with only riding the 09. I loved the ride loved the handling and gear selections. The KQ was the top one for me!!! Thank you all for your opinion! First time ZUK owner now!

Thank You
