Default Check out my new to me 525, and is this a decent bike?

So, scouring craigslist like I always do looking for a deal I came across a miscatorgorized ad for a "polaris for $2200"... so, turns out its an original owner, very low hour, original TIRES, Outlaw 525 IRS.

So, I threw the wife and kids in the truck after dinner on thanksgiving night and drove an hour and picked this thing up for... 1800 bucks. Clean title, plated and street legal. (here in bad *** Northern Arizona)

So, besides needing a seat cover its clean as can BE. Its a gem.

I picked up some paddles and shes ready for the sand. (it did not include sand tires)

How well do these 525 KTM motors perform? I have read that they are quite the animal.
Any personal experience? I have only putted it on the street in first gear with my daughter, who wont seem to get off of it.. even for a picture.

My last quad was a DS650 Baja, so this thing feels small and light.

Clean machine at a good price looks like. I've ridden this machine and it's a hand full even for an experienced rider, which I'm not Be careful and always wear a helmet! This atv takes a little more maintenance than most Polaris atvs and I would definitely get a shop manual. Most of the problems can be avoided if you do as this is a full blown race machine straight out of the crate with this killer KTM engine! OPT

Finally got the 525 out for a ride.. and yes. It is fast. Even at my elevation of 5200 feet... its fast. Can't wait to take it to glamis and hit the hills...

Thanks for the replies!

Any tips on what to look out for? Are these known to be reliable?
I did notice that I have a torn inner CV boot...

Replace the boot before any damage can happen! Cycle Parts Warehouse is about the cheapest online source for oem parts. These machines require more frequent oil and filter changes that most atvs,so at least have an owners manual, preferably a shop manual if you plan to do you're own maintenance such as valve adjustments, oil changes, etc. Race machines do need to be maintained. IF you live in Northern Arizona, you don't need to go all the way to Glamis to use that machine and the paddles. Take it to the Cinders OHV area East of Flagstaff. The cinders are about as fun as the sand and the paddles are perfect.

Davidaz,

Yes I am in Prescott Valley. I cant wait to go to the Cinders. Have never had the chance to go there.

Flag is 7000+ feet, power of any machine must be pretty diminished up there!
