how much modifications on a 400 2 stroke to make it outrun a ho?

 

None! I have a SpH.O and I dont think it would have a chance against the 400 2 stroke. Althogh I have never raced a 2 stroke.

 

Been there. Done that. The 400 Explorer is the fastest utility machine available TODAY. The HO and rubicon might battle it out for 2nd, but the HO should take that honor. The Explorer has almost 150 lbs less than the HO and its engine produces just as much power in the fast revving, 2 stroke form. On paper, the Explorer is faster, and it is also faster in real life.

 

The Explorer will spank a HO because it has a 2 stoke engine & weighs more than 100 pounds less. It is the fastest stock utility ATV out there. This is until the new Prairie comes out then it will be interesting to see who is the fastest.

 

I cant speak for the HO,however,the Xplorer 400cc is certainly faster than the non HO model Sportsmans.My brother and I are the same weight and I beat up on him pretty bad with my 00 Xplorer.At the time,he was on my 99 500cc Sportsman.

Some guys in here will even tell you that the HO Sportsman is not much quicker than the older Sportmans,depends on who you talk to,

I have a 98 400 Xplorer and my dad has a 2000 Mag 500{non HO} and we are pretty much dead even in a drag race,however I do weigh about 60 pounds more than he does so Im sure that makes a differance.
BUT>>> now that I have changed the clutch spring,I win every time.

My buddy has a 98 SP500 and I beat him by a longggg shot.
