This was a common problem as the linkage and shift boxes wear. Have the gear box in neutral. Loosen the 10 mm linkage arm lock nuts at the gear box end. Remove the 10 mm nuts on both linkage arms securing it to the shift box levers. Turn the linkage ball ends to where they fall straight in the shift box levers with no resistance. Tighten the linkage arm 10 mm nuts and replace the two nuts that secure the linkage arms to the shift box. Hopefully this will help. Also if it's hard to shift or creeps while in gear you may need to shim out/remove shims on the rear clutch if the belt touches the front clutch sheath,to align it properly to where it rides in the center. If you haven't checked/changed the front hub fluid,it might be time to do so. It takes only Polaris Demand Drive hub fluid. You can also jack all four tires up and see if both front tires kick in when you engage the awd switch.
