Best time of Yr to buy?

Hello,
I would love to know what the best time of yr is to buy an ATV and get a deal on it? For instance, the best time of yr to get a bargain on a snowmobile is right now, Feb, March.
So is there a best time to buy ATVs? I'm tired of seeing used 4x4 ATVs for barely less than the price of new ones. I don't want to buy a new one, but I might have to. I refuse to pay %25 less than a new ATV, for something used and without warranty, etc.
I can get a new 2000 Sportsman 500 for about $5500, and a new 2001 for $5900. Then I look in the paper and see the same ones used for $6000!
I also can't seem to find anything newer than a '96 for less than $3500.
I'm willing to buy a used one, if the price is right. Am I out of luck? If so, I'll just buy a new one and sell it in 2 - 3 yrs for what I paid for it <G>
Thanks in advance for your input...

Indy,
It's hard to say. I just went through all this in buying my ATVs. I came to the conclusion that ATV's unlike many of our toys are popular year round because they are useable year round. One would think that winter would have an impact, but Christmas keeps the sales up and they're fun in the snow too. The good news is that they do seem to hold their value when properly cared for and kept clean. I was lucky in that I wanted Honda's and Honda came out with a rebate in early February so I went ahead and purchased new.

Depends on what you want. If you are willing to drive last year's model, wait until after the new ('02) machines come out, and get a leftover '01. A prime example of this is any '00 Sportsman 500s you can find. If you can live without the HO engine, there are some real bargains out there, if there are any left. I saw an ad a month or so ago that had 2 left for $5800 cash.
I personally would rather pay $5800 for something with warranty (and new) than $5500 for one with 500 miles an no warranty left.
