Lookng for some advice
#1
I have 1998 Polaris sportsman 500, Its got a 2" lift and 29.5" swamp lites. I was wondering if any parts off of a newer machine would work? Like the upper and lower A arms and shocks and axles off a sportsman 850 would work. Looking for a wider and taller stance? Any help would be great! Thanks for your time!!!

You can still use Sportsman 500 parts from other years, but they changed some parts in 2001 and some other parts in 2004 and now they have a new body. I don't know which parts are the same. I THINK 2001 was when they made the front suspension 1.5" longer. I don't know if they changed the a-arms or not. The best thing to do would be to look up Polaris parts online and see what other years used them. Polaris ATV, RANGER Side By Side Vehicles Cycle Parts Warehouse has some of the best prices on new parts and you can find used parts on eBay.

The XP 850 is only 1.6" wider then yours. You could use the newer struts from 2005 SP500 that increased the suspension travel from 6.25" to 8.2".
