Default 2001 400 sportsman stator question

Been searching the threads. My machine has stopped charging. Found a couple that OPT had answered to. Maybe I have been reading too many. Just when checking the yellow,yellow/red and yellow/brown to ground. Seems that at one time no continuity is the correct reading.Than found one where some was allowed. My readings were 2.159, 2.159 and 2.160 mega ohms to ground. Used several different ground connections with the same readings. Removed the flywheel cover and seen no debris. Are the readings ok or do I need a new stator?

Thanks for any and all help.

Readings sound ok as they all show close to the same resistance readings to the same area.If they were way off from one another or any wire shorted to ground then I'd suspect the stator. Also check the yellows to one another and you should show somewhere around .017 ohms on average.Resistance tests are not always 100% accurate, but usually help eliminate problem areas.Plus two identical meters may show different results. Most of the time charging problems are either loose connections at the regulator or the regulator is bad.Faulty regulators can under charge or even over charge up to 17 volts or more, which can over heat batteries and dry up cells. Shows to have a #4060191 regulator for your model. Check this place out to make sure the wires are correct. About as cheap as anywhere online.Polaris ATV Rectifier Regulator
or even Amazon sometimes has some good prices.

Went out and checked the yellows. Had .6 and .7ohms between them using a Fluke78 meter. Did check the red and black for voltage as I had to replace the connector on the regulator side earlier this year. Had good voltage there 13.2volts. Found the regulator swelled behind the black and yellow/brown wires. So I'm hoping that is the problem and will order it tonight.
